£7500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant explained...

Your path to a greener home with a new heat pump

MCS Certified

We are registered under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) meaning you will receive the £7,500 BUS government grant, when your invest in an air to water system.

What grants are available?

The UK government's Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is a core initiative designed to help homeowners transition from high-carbon fossil fuel heating systems to cleaner, low-carbon alternatives. At  Heat Pumps London we make the entire process simple and stress-free by applying for the grant on your behalf.

£7,500

Grants of £7,500 are available for 90,000 homes to support the installation of air source heat pumps.

What is a BUS voucher?

A BUS voucher is a grant issued by the UK government, administered by Ofgem (Office of Gas and Electricity Markets), to help cover the upfront cost of installing a new heat pump. The voucher itself is a fixed amount—£7,500 for heat pumps—that is paid directly to us, your installer.

This means the grant is deducted from your final invoice, so you never have to handle the funds yourself. As an MCS-certified installer, we are authorised to manage this application and redemption process, giving you full peace of mind.

Also benefit from zero VAT!

In addition to the £7,500 grant, the government is offering further financial support. From 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2027, there is 0% VAT on the installation of energy-saving materials, including heat pumps and biomass boilers. This provides an extra layer of savings on your total project cost.

Who can get the grant?

The grant is available to property owners in England and Wales. To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:

  • You own the property (it can be a home or a small non-domestic property).

  • The new system must replace a fossil fuel heating system (e.g., oil, gas, or LPG boiler).

Does your property qualify?

The scheme is open to domestic and non-domestic properties in England and Wales. However, there are some important exceptions to be aware of:

  • New-build properties are generally not eligible. The only exception is for self-builds that have been built mainly using the first owner's resources and have never been owned by a business.

  • Grants are not available for social housing or properties that have already received government funding for the same heat pump installation.

  • An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) provides vital information about a property's energy use. Before we can approve any grant application, your property must have a valid EPC that was issued within the last 10 years. If your EPC has outstanding recommendations for loft or cavity wall insulation, these must be completed before we can redeem the voucher.
